About

Axelrod Grobman Architects is a collaboration founded in 2003 between Axelrod Architects, headed by architect Irit Axelrod, and Grobman Architects, headed by architect Dr. Yasha J. Grobman. Axelrod Grobman Architects is leading a holistic sustainabile approach to architectural design, which combines design innovation with social, environmental and economic factors.

2013

Best project award in the Ecologic Public buildings category for the design of the Porter School of Environmental Studies.  In Sustainable Architectural Design conference n.4: Sustainable Synergy: Buildings, Environment and Society. Bait Vanoy. 25/11/2013.

Distinguished paper award in ICoRD  ’13 International Conference on Research into Design conference (out of about 200 submitted papers - Grobman, Y.J., Pankratov Yekutiel, T).

Israeli Pavilion for the Expo 2015 international exhibition. Finalist in an open design competition. In collaboration with Yonatan Cohen and Davide Schumann

2012

Forum TLV. Second place in an Invited competition by the Tel-Aviv municipality for a new type of exhibition building. 6000sqm. In collaboration with Nir Chen.

2010

Third place in the AI Best Architectural Project of the Year 2009 competition – un built projects category for the design of porter School of Environmental Studies. Axelrod Grobman Architects in collaboration with architects Joseph Cory and Nir Chen

American Institute of Architects (AIA) Los Angeles Merit award for excellence in architectural design for the design of the Spitzer-Salant School of Social Work and the Deichman Center for Social Interaction at Ben-Gurion University of The Negev, Israel. In collaboration with Architect Raquel Vert.

2003

Sandberg grant for research and development for the best research project of 2002-2003. The award was given for the results of the initial stages of the research on digital architecture, which were accomplished within the frame of the PhD research. Jury chaired by Prof. Michael Levin

Architect Dr. Yasha (Jacob) Grobman is an architect and researcher. He graduated from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem (1997) and holds a Master of Architecture from the Design Research Laboratory in the Architectural Association (AA) in London (2001) and a PhD from the Technion Israel Institute of Technology (2008). He has been a postdoctoral fellow in Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD) (2009-2010). Dr. Grobman has taught architecture design and theory and lectured in the USA, Israel, Switzerland and China. His research concentrates on performance oriented architectural design he use of computers for the design and manufacturing of sustainable and innovative architecture.

Architect Irit Axelrod graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in the Technion (B.arch - 1993), with additional studies of Economics and Urban Studies at Tel-Aviv University (1989) Architect Axelrod is a partner in Axelrod Grobman Architects and has run a US-based practice in San-Francisco, CA since 2003
